Who I am
I started lifting in tenth grade.
Not because I loved the gym. Because I was tired of being small. Tired of feeling like I couldn't be the man God was calling me to be.
Before that, I was the kid who made fun of guys who said "I need to hit the gym today." I spent my free time doing what most teens did. Stuff like fishing or video games. I went to church but I wasn't really actively pursuing the Lord. I didn't have tons of discipline in any direction of my life and I was fine with it because I didn't have a reason to change.
Then I got into one of my first serious relationships. And it hit me.
I wasn't built to lead. Not physically. Not spiritually. Not in any way that actually mattered.
I knew something had to change.
So I gave into the peer pressure from my friends and started showing up. To the gym. To the Word. To my own life. Turns out the guys I used to make fun of were onto something. I don't say that to them out loud though. No need to give them the satisfaction.
I learned early that my body is a gift from the Lord and how I treat it matters. That became the foundation I built everything else on. I was far from perfect. I made a lot of mistakes. Every day I still do. But every morning I tried to come back to the same thing. The Word first. Then everything else.
Six years after I started training on my own, I got certified as a personal trainer. I had found a passion for helping others do what I had done. Coach them on form. Show them what actually works. Save them from wasting years figuring it out alone.
Today I start every morning in the Word. I train five to six days a week to keep my body where it needs to be. I'm still not perfect. I still mess up. I still skip the occasional leg day and then immediately regret it. But I'm a few steps ahead of the man I'm trying to reach, and that's why I can help him.
I built YHWH Fitness for the Christian man who's tired of feeling small. Who knows he was built for more but can't seem to break through. Who needs someone a few steps ahead to show him the path.
That's me. And that's what this is for.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9
This verse is the anchor of everything I do. Transformation isn't a moment. It's a harvest you reap from showing up day after day after day. Even when you don't feel like it. Even when you fall short. Especially then.
If you're ready to start showing up, I'm ready to walk with you.
